A former presidential candidate and pioneer Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Shitu Mohammed Kabir, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, saying continuity in leadership remains the best option for Nigeria’s stability and development.
Kabir, a recipient of the national honours of MON and OFR, made his position known in a statement on Friday, where he expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election.
He argued that supporting the President’s re-election would sustain ongoing reforms, strengthen infrastructure development and improve national security.
The former presidential candidate also advised the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to work with Tinubu in the interest of national unity and political relevance.
According to him, collaboration among political leaders after elections is essential for the country’s progress.
Kabir said, “Politics should be like football: competitors contest vigorously, but after the final whistle, they shake hands and work together for the good of the nation.”
He maintained that Nigeria’s national interest should take precedence over partisan differences, urging political actors to embrace dialogue and cooperation as the country prepares for the 2027 general election.
Kabir added that continuity in governance would provide the stability needed to consolidate ongoing development efforts and address the nation’s security and economic challenges.
